What is a Progressive Web App (PWA)?

A PWA is a website that looks, feels and works exactly like a native app installed from the App Store or Google Play, but without the download. You add MotifyMe® to your home screen in a couple of taps, and it lives there alongside your other apps. It runs full screen (no browser address bar), works offline for the pages you have already opened, and most importantly, can send you instant push notifications.

Because it is a real website underneath, you never have to wait for an update from an app store. Every time you open MotifyMe®, you have the latest version, instantly. No 100MB download, no permissions warnings, no waiting for app review.

1 Install on iPhone or iPad

Important: on iPhone and iPad, you must use Safari (not Chrome or Firefox) to install MotifyMe®. Once installed, you can use any browser to interact with it.

1. Open Safari and go to app.motifyme.co
2. Tap the Share button at the bottom of the screen (the square with the arrow pointing up).
3. Scroll down in the share menu and tap Add to Home Screen.
4. Confirm the name (it will say “MotifyMe®”) and tap Add in the top right corner.
5. Done. Look on your home screen, the MotifyMe® icon is now there alongside your other apps.

Tip: Open MotifyMe® from your home screen (not Safari) at least once so iOS allows push notifications. Then sign in and tap “Enable now” on the notifications banner.

2 Install on Android

Android is even easier than iPhone. Chrome will usually prompt you to install automatically.

1. Open Chrome and go to app.motifyme.co
2. You will see a banner at the bottom: “Add MotifyMe® to Home screen”. Tap it.
3. If you do not see the banner, tap the three dots menu (top right) and choose Install app or Add to Home screen.
4. Confirm by tapping Install. Done.
5. The MotifyMe® icon now sits on your home screen and in your app drawer.

Tip: Push notifications are enabled the moment you sign in. Just tap “Enable now” on the banner and grant permission.

3 Install on Mac, Windows or Linux

Yes, this works on Mac, Windows and Linux. The steps below are identical on all three.

On desktop, MotifyMe® runs in its own window with no browser tabs or address bar, exactly like a native desktop app. Works with Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera and Arc.

1. Open Chrome (or another supported browser) and go to app.motifyme.co
2. Look for a small install icon at the right end of the address bar (looks like a monitor with a down arrow).
3. Click it and confirm by clicking Install.
4. Alternatively: click the three dots menu > Cast, save and share > Install MotifyMe®.
5. MotifyMe® opens in its own window. You can pin it to your taskbar (Windows) or dock (Mac).

Tip: On Mac, also check System Settings > Notifications > Google Chrome and make sure “Allow Notifications” is on. macOS has a second layer of notification permissions on top of Chrome.

Common questions

Is this an app from the App Store?

No, and that is deliberate. MotifyMe® is a Progressive Web App, which means it works exactly like an app from the store but does not require a download, store approval or an account with Apple or Google. You get the same experience: home screen icon, full screen, push notifications, and offline support, with none of the bloat.

Will it slow down my phone?

No. The whole MotifyMe® app is under 1MB on disk, compared to typical native apps at 50 to 150MB. It uses almost no battery when idle and only runs when you open it or when a notification arrives.

Can I uninstall it?

Yes, exactly like any other app. On iPhone, long press the icon and tap Remove App. On Android, long press and drag to Uninstall. On desktop, right click the icon and choose Uninstall. No leftovers, no account changes.

What if I do not want push notifications?

You can install MotifyMe® to your home screen without enabling push notifications. Just tap “Maybe later” on the notification banner. You can enable or disable push notifications any time from Settings > Notifications inside MotifyMe®.

Why are notifications not arriving?

Three things to check in order:

1. Push notifications are enabled in MotifyMe® (Settings > Notifications, click “Enable now”).
2. Your browser has notification permission for app.motifyme.co (check your browser settings).
3. On Mac and iPhone, your OS settings allow notifications from your browser.

Mac users especially: check System Settings > Notifications > Chrome, as there is a second permission layer there.

Does it work offline?

Partially. Pages you have already opened are cached for offline viewing. New data (latest valuations, freshly added vehicles, etc) requires an internet connection. Push notifications continue to arrive as long as your device has a connection.
