MOT and tax reminder FAQs
Are MOT and tax reminders really free?
Yes. MotifyMe® reminders are completely free, with no account needed. We keep the service free by offering other MotifyMe® products, such as paid vehicle history checks and car finance, which you are never obliged to use.
How will you remind me?
By email. You get a reminder one month before, one week before and one day before your MOT or tax is due, so there is time to book or renew.
What happens when I renew?
We check the public DVLA and DVSA record every day. Once your MOT or tax is renewed, we stop reminding you about it until it is next due, so you are never nagged about something you have already done.
What if I sign up when a renewal is close, or already overdue?
We send whichever reminders still have time to help. If your MOT is two weeks away when you sign up, you get the one-week and one-day reminders this time, then the full set next year. If a date has already passed, we wait and remind you ahead of the next one.
What information do you use?
Your email address, your vehicle registration, and the MOT and tax due dates from the public DVLA and DVSA record. We do not sell your data, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
Can I unsubscribe?
Yes, any time, using the unsubscribe link in any reminder email. That stops all future reminders straight away.
Do reminders replace my legal responsibility?
No. Reminders are a free, best-effort convenience based on public data, which can be delayed or incomplete. Keeping your vehicle taxed and with a valid MOT is always your responsibility, so please confirm the current position at gov.uk.
