It is pulled live from National Highways and refreshes on its own roughly every minute, so it is safe to keep open while you are planning or waiting out a hold-up.

What it covers

The data covers the strategic road network, meaning motorways such as the M25, M1 and M6 and major A-roads managed by National Highways. It is based on the electronic signs and signals set on those roads, so it focuses on significant closures rather than every minor local road or day-to-day congestion.
