Aberdeen Clean Air Zone

Aberdeen operates a Low Emission Zone that bans non-compliant vehicles from the city centre, enforced from 1 June 2024. There is no daily charge to pay; instead, entering in a non-compliant car brings a £60 penalty that escalates on repeat breaches.

What counts as compliant

The emission standards are the same across UK clean air and low emission zones. A petrol car generally needs to meet Euro 4 (most registered from 2006), and a diesel car needs Euro 6 (most registered from September 2015). Fully electric cars are always exempt. It comes down to the exact emission standard, not just the age, which is why it pays to check the reg rather than guess.
