Birmingham Clean Air Zone
Birmingham runs a Class D Clean Air Zone covering the city centre inside the A4540 Middleway ring road. Non-compliant private cars pay £8 a day, any time of day, all year. It uses the same emission standards as London's ULEZ.

What counts as compliant
The emission standards are the same across UK clean air and low emission zones. A petrol car generally needs to meet Euro 4 (most registered from 2006), and a diesel car needs Euro 6 (most registered from September 2015). Fully electric cars are always exempt. It comes down to the exact emission standard, not just the age, which is why it pays to check the reg rather than guess.

Every road inside the A4540 Middleway ring road (the Middleway itself is not included). Live since 1 June 2021. It is run by Birmingham City Council.
